S2 E30: Get Off Your Horse

We will often reach out to God in desperate moments to save us from whatever trouble we are in, but we don’t often like God’s methods. Jesus epitomizes this in Mark 11:1-11 in his triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, and Paul emphasizes it in Philippians 2:1-11. Join Kris as she considers what salvation might actually look like, and how our healing might contribute to the saving of the world.

To learn more about how Jesus teaches and models this idea of kenosis, check out his full sermon in the book of Matthew: Sermon on the Mount.

To think through some of the ways your own internal baggage or bad theology may be keeping you from healing and wholeness, individually or in community, consider reading: How Jesus Saves the World from Us: 12 Antidotes to Toxic Christianity by Morgan Guyton.
