What comes first – grace or responsibility? Kris and Susan continue their series on Richard Rohr’s Breathing Under Water: Spirituality and the 12 Steps with Step 6. The full step says “We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”
Scriptures for this podcast include:
Lamentations 3:21-22:
But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
Romans 9:16: So it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.
Luke 5:12-14a: Once, when he was in one of the cities, there was a man covered with leprosy.When he saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” Then Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I do choose. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him. And he ordered him to tell no one.
Correction: At one point Kris recommended King of Egypt as an animated summary of the main story of the Exodus. She misspoke. She meant Prince of Egypt. We still like it.
